Our Place

A steakhouse that still cooks like one.

We’re out on Scottsville Road, north of the square, in a building that has been feeding Macon County for many decades. Same block, same buildling and many of the same faces on both sides of the counter.

It isn’t a chain and it doesn’t pretend to be. Bring the kids, bring your grandmother — there’s a menu for both of them.

    A steak off the charbroiler.

    Cut by hand that morning, seasoned, and put over open flame until it’s the way you asked for it. Comes with your choice of a side and a yeast roll, like it always has.

    Chicken fried chicken.

    Hand breaded, fried, and put under white sawmill gravy — with your choice of side. The plate people order when they’re not in the mood to decide.
